Toyota showed the drift of the new GR Corolla

And made the novelty the protagonist of a series of commercials

Introduced in the spring of 2022, the “charged” GR Corolla hatchback has become one of the best-selling cars – by the standards of the class – in the United States.

The car, which is structurally close to the regular Corolla Sport, but technically repeats the GR Yaris, does not need special advertising, which did not prevent Toyota from preparing a whole series of videos starring the GR Corolla and other GR models. The Race Cars for the Real World campaign aims to showcase the potential of the cars and their connection to big-time motorsport.

The project was implemented by the well-known advertising company Saatchi & Saatchi, under whose supervision all videos were implemented. In the Running Wild ad, a drifting GR Corolla, driven by Formula Drift Championship driver Ryan Turk, bursts into the frame of a “family photo”.

He is behind the wheel of a rear-wheel drive GR Corolla Formula Drift defending the colors of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team. The Meet the Family video features GR Supra, GR86 and GR Corolla – all current Gazoo Racing models – and drivers from the Toyota Gazoo Racing program.

Formula Drift championship drivers Frederik Aasbø, Ken Gushi and Ryan Turk, driving Toyota models, showed the full potential of standard cars. In the rest of the promotional videos, the emphasis is on the relationship between road cars and racing cars, but the clips themselves are not so spectacular – the lack of professional racing drivers in the frame affects.
